One of my regular clients, Cliff Lede, asked me to photograph some wine bottle gift packs they were offering for the holidays. The instructions were to do standard shots on a white background, and normally these would be straight shots, like 2 bottles standing up next the gift box, or bag, or any other packaging that might go along with them.
In this case I decided to have just a little fun with it. Instead of putting the two bottles next to the leather case, all standing, I put one in the bag and one next to it and played with the focus a bit, with total sharpness really only falling on the label of the standing bottle, and even then, it is only truly sharp on the middle-right of the bottle. I liked the affect and the look, and the good news was so did my client!
